Waldens Creek Riding Stables

 

Come on out and experience firsthand what wonders the Great Smoky Mountains has to offer out at Waldens Creek Stables. Grand views, deep hollows and clear spring waters on over 500 acres of mountains and valleys surround the stables and beckon visitors year round. Our guided horse trails are perfect for any beginner to experienced rider. We have riding trails that bring you along the base of the mountain where doubling is allowed to more scenic trails that ride along the top of Waldens ridge with mountain top views. All of our horse trails are at least 8 feet wide and kept up routinely for the ease of our horses and comfort of our guests.

Maximum weight per horse (including Doubles): 240 pounds
Anyone 5 years old and up must be on their own horse.
Children under 5 may accompany adult on a double saddle for an additional fee of $10.
Doubles are limited to 1 hour ride only.

Valley Hill Ride (1 Hour)- $29.95 + tax
Our Valley Hill Trail is about 1 hour long, and great for all ages and abilities, even first time riders. This trail starts off nice and flat as it will pass across the valleys, over a couple wooden bridges and splash through Waldens Creek. You will pass alongside the original homestead on the farm built in 1903, where you will go up and travel along the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. The trail is about 10 – 12 feet wide and mostly shaded.

 

Valley Mountain Ride (1.5 Hours)- $44.95 + tax
This trail takes approximately 1 ½ hours with the width of the trail ranging from 10-12 feet wide. It’s a great ride for beginners who want to view the mountains. This trail ride adventure begins by riding through the valley and splashing through Waldens Creek. As you approach the base of the mountain, you will get to see the original homestead on the farm built in the early 1900’s. As you continue your adventure, you will ride halfway up Waldens Mountain seeing mountain and valley views along the way. Hidden back in the holler, you will get to ride by the old moonshine still which was last operated in the 1960’s. As the trail leads out of the mountain, you will cross thru Waldens Creek 3 more times and over some country wooden bridges.

 

Mountain View (2 Hours) $59.95 + tax
This trail takes approximately 2 hours with the width of the trail ranging from 8-10 feet wide. This trail is good for children 10 years and older and for adults who have ridden a few or more times that feel comfortable on a horse. This trail begins by riding across the valleys and splashing through Waldens Creek. As you approach the mountains, you get to see the original homestead on the farm built in the early 1900’s. Most of your adventure will take place in the mountains where it will be shaded, and you will have the opportunity to see some wildlife. As you and your horse ride up the mountain, you will get to enjoy some of the most scenic views in the Smoky Mountains. When you reach the top ridge of the mountain, you will get the opportunity to take a photo of your group with the beautiful mountain tops in the background. Beginning your journey down the mountain, you will ride alongside one of the ranches’ mountain fed streams. As you continue into the valley, you will cross Waldens Creek 3 more times and ride over country wooden bridges before returning to the stables.

Mountain Adventure (3 Hours) $89.95 + tax
This trail takes approximately 3 hours with the width of the trail ranging from 8-10 feet wide. This trail is perfect for anyone who is up for the real cowboy adventure. From crossing through the valleys to riding on top of the mountain, you will get to see almost all of our ranch’s 500 acres. This exciting trail crosses through Waldens Creek and rides along the top ridge of the mountain where you are more apt to see wildlife such as deer, turkeys, and bears. Along this trail, you will get to see not only the beautiful Smoky Mountain views, but also the old homestead built in the early 1900’s and the moonshine still their family operated for many years. You will ride out of the holler and into the valley where you get to cross thru and ride alongside Waldens Creek. As you approach the barn, you will cross over country wooden bridges and get to lead your horse to water.
